Mums funeral was held in a village in Cyprus, named Athenou (mum always called it a metropolis). This is were mum was born and very much wanted to be laid to rest. The funeral was held in the Church mum attended as a child and young girl, it was led by her cousin Father Demetri. The funeral was attended by many friends and family from Cyprus, Greece and the UK. There were many persons from the village that knew mum that to attended. Mums funeral was very moving, a very sad day for our family. We found comfort knowing that after all her suffering mum was at peace and in a better place. Mums Wake was held in my brothers home in Athenou where she lived whilst visiting Cyprus in the last twenty years. All family and friends and many village persons came back to the house for teas, coffees, and savoury foods offered at a Greek Orthodox Wake. Thanking all for their kind words, flowers, cards and donations of £ 1000 raised for MND Research.
